Take an RV for a Train Ride!

Are we allowed to travel into Mexico?

Cruise America, for example, does allow travel into Mexico with its motorhomes; however, there are restrictions. Travel into mainland Mexico is limited to the northern states of Mexico contiguous to the US border. If the motorhome is taken beyond the northern states of Mexico, it will void your contract. You would then be personally liable for any damage, accident, or breakdown. Cruise America offers Mexican accident coverage for $20 per night. (Mexican accident coverage insurance is a "must have" before taking any rental RV across the border!)

Fantasy Caravans is a good example of a company offering planned RV tours throughout Mexico. If you travel with them (or another approved tour company) on an escorted tour, many RV rental dealers will allow you to go anywhere in Mexico. Fantasy Caravans' telephone number is 1-800-952-8496 and their Web address is http://www.fantasycaravans.com/. Be sure to look at their "Piggyback Train" tours. On one of these "caravans" your rental RV is loaded on a train which then takes you through Mexico's fabulous Copper Canyon!
