Planning Your RV Rental Vacation - Step 1

Logically, the first step in planning an RV Rental Vacation is simply deciding if it's the sort of thing which is for you. We'll give you a couple of detailed (though admittedly a bit tounge in cheek) lists of indicators in a few days. For now, we offer the following generalizations from our book, "RV Rentals: A Vacationer's Guide":

"Summary of Positives Indicators

We hate generalizing. Not because we don’t find it useful, but because we know that as soon as we attempt to sketch a simplified view of a highly diverse group we will hear from those who feel we have left out, or included, characteristics inappropriately.

Having said that, we will say this: As a group, RVers tend to be more active, more outdoor oriented, more adventuresome, more independent and better able to adjust to unanticipated occurrences than their non-RVing counterparts. "

"Summary of Negatives

Those whose ideal vacation involves being pampered and catered to will find little papering or catering on an RV vacation. We are all for pampering, but we also recognize that, unless we make a decision to pamper and cater to one another, there is neither pamperer nor caterer included with our RV. Those who like structure and predictability on vacation will find that either is only present to the extent they decide to create it. Those who view a vacation as a time to simply shut down and leave all of the deciding and organizing to others will find the role of those 'others' can only be filled by themselves. To paraphrase Pogo, 'We have met the others and the others are us'."
